Life: A Healthy and Happy 2015 - Update 7

July has been a month of organisation and list making and getting things done which means that I now find myself feeling a wonderful sense of accomplishment! Despite all this, my priority over the month of July has been the kids, so apologies if you've found my blog updates a bit erratic this month. It's been lovely seeing the world through the kids' eyes. It's something I need to remind myself to do in the coming months.

1. Yoga Challenge
I completed the  30 Days of Yoga with Adriene Challenge for the third time and have now moved on to doing her videos targeting specific problems like back pain and hamstrings. Running longer distances means that these problems are once again rearing their ugly heads. Over the next month I want to work on a schedule of daily yoga which targets the areas of my body I need to pay special attention to and then see if that helps.

2. Headspace
I completed a third Headspace Pro pack and also the specialist pack on Self Esteem which I really enjoyed. I've also reached the milestone of a 180 day run streak which means that I've now been doing daily meditation for 6 months. I'm very happy about this little accomplishment and plan to continue with the fourth  Headspace Pro pack this month.

3. Food
I'm now following a marginally gluten-free diet which means that I still eat mostly gluten-free but with the odd wheaty treat. I plan to continue with this over the next month as I'm no longer suffering any ill-effects except on a days when I eat wheat at every meal.

4. Running
My running has been a bit erratic this month, with me only getting out twice or thrice over the week. I've still managed to keep up my long runs though which is important as my training plan has me running further than half-marathon distance in a few weeks time. I have noticed a few running niggles re-emerging and I've also found that my running posture deteriorates as I tire. Definitely something I need to work on.

5. Next Steps
My plan for the next month is to keep my cool in the run up to the new school year. I usually find myself in a flap over all the little things we need to get ready but I'm hoping that all the advance prep I've done over July will stand me in good stead.
